Students at the diploma in engineering level need to acquire knowledge and skills in the nature of electricity, electrical house wiring, earthing, and electrical wiring. By completing this course, students will be able to perform various tasks such as joints and splices, fittings for electrical installation work like lamp circuits, tube light circuits, and calling bell circuits. This foundational knowledge is essential for effectively performing electrical responsibilities in these fields.
Due to these requirements, the electrical engineering subject has been included in the diploma in engineering curriculum. This subject covers topics that enable diploma engineers to identify and classify various types of hand tools used in electrical house wiring, different types of switches, lamps, electrical fittings and fixtures, conductors, insulators, semiconductors, wires and cables, joints and splices. They will be able to verify and apply Ohm's Law and Joule's Law in series and parallel circuits. The teaching and learning approach focuses more on practical aspects rather than theory.
